Hellmut Seier

Hans Hellmut Seier (born June 7, 1929 in Berlin ; † December 27, 2019 ) was a German historian .

Life

After studying history in 1956 at the Free University of Berlin under Hans Herzfeld, Hellmut Seier received his doctorate on the idea of ​​the state under the historian Heinrich von Sybel . In 1970 he completed his habilitation with Paul Kluke at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main on the subject of Eugen Schiffer and the National Liberal Party .

From 1970 until his retirement in 1994, Seier was Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Act

To Seler research interests included the history of the history of the 19th and 20th centuries, the constitutional history , the scientific and university history , the history of the German Federal , the history of political liberalism and the Hessian state history . In the regional and state history, Seier dealt with the history of the Electorate of Hesse and the development of the city and university of Marburg .
