Dieter Rebentisch

Dieter Rebentisch (born October 2, 1941 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German historian .

Life

After attending the humanistic Heinrich-von-Gagern-Gymnasium , he studied Classical Philology, History and Political Science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1961 to 1965 . 1965–1968 he was a research assistant at the Chair of Contemporary History; 1969–1969 assistant to the Funkkolleg History of Hessischer Rundfunk ; 1970 doctorate on the mayor of Frankfurt, Ludwig Landmann ; 1971–1979 lecturer in modern urban and administrative history at Goethe University; 1979–1980 substitute for a professorship for contemporary history in Giessen; 1981–1982 scholarship from the German Research Foundation ; 1983–1991 scientific advisor to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Bonn; 1986 habilitation and private lecturer; 1991–2003 head of the Institute for Urban History of the City of Frankfurt am Main, adjunct professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.

Dieter Rebentisch is married to the historian Angelika Raab-Rebentisch (* 1949).
