August Rudolph (born September 25, 1816 in Kassel , † December 13, 1893 in Marburg ) was a German administrative lawyer. He was Lord Mayor of Marburg for over 30 years.

Life

Rudolph was the son of the city architect and road commissioner Heinrich Rudolph . He studied law and camera science at the Philipps University of Marburg . He was active in the Corps Guestphalia Marburg (1834, 1840) and in the Corps Teutonia Marburg . In the meantime he was at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he also joined the Corps Nassovia in 1839. After a year as a court assessor at the Rodenberg district court , he returned to Marburg. On December 4, 1856, he became Lord Mayor of Marburg . In 1862 he was appointed to the Hessian Estates Assembly . After 30 years in office, he gave up the mayor's office on August 2, 1884.

Honors

On April 9, 1884 he was made an honorary citizen of Marburg . The central traffic junction at Rudolphsplatz is named after him.
