Bobcat Company ( Bobcat English for bobcat ) is a manufacturer of skid steer loaders , excavators , telescopic handlers , all-wheel-drive utility vehicles and related attachments.

history

Two blacksmiths that made machinery for local farmers founded the Melroe Manufacturing Company in North Dakota , United States , in 1947 . In 1960 the first skid steer loader came on the market. It had armored steering . The wheels on one side are driven or braked faster for steering. In 1970, the production of the Bobcat loader came to the Scheid machine factory in Villmar via the Clark Equipment Company . In 1972 all production was relocated to North Dakota.

In 1995 Ingersoll Rand took over Melroe and Clark . In 2001 there was a takeover of Superstav based in Dobříš , Czech Republic . In 2007 a new manufacturing facility was opened in Dobříš and the Bobcat Company was sold to Doosan Infracore by Ingersoll Rand .

After the takeover by Doosan, a joint venture was established between Doosan (Bobcat) and Daedong (Kioti tractors) for the sale of compact tractors (CUT; Compact Utility Tractor) in the North American market. The brand name was Bobcat, the technology was provided by Kioti. In return, the latter was given access to the Bobcat dealer network. Production ended around 2013.

By 2014, a total of 1 million skid steer loaders had been manufactured by Bobcat.

Types

Bobcat sells the following types, among others:

  • The S series includes compact wheel loaders that can be equipped with either a shovel, fork or digger. The machines have four-wheel drive and are mainly used for gardening and landscaping.
  • The T series includes telescopic handlers that can be used to move loads upwards. These are offered in various designs for the construction industry or for agriculture.
  • The E series includes compact excavators that take up little space because the superstructure rotates without exceeding the dimensions of the caterpillars.
  • The T series includes compact crawler loaders.
  • The CT range comprised tractors with Kioti technology and was sold in North America. Three models were identified, CT122, CT235 and CT440. Production ended around 2013.
  • Augers, excavators, shields, shovels are used as attachments. Buckets, forestry mulchers, grapples, forks, hydraulic hammers, pallet forks, dustpans, tree transplanters, trenchers and a few others sold for special uses.
