history
The company was founded in 1871 under the name Ingersoll Rock Drill Company . In 1905 it merged with the Rand Drill Company to form the Ingersoll-Rand Company .
In 2001 the group moved to Bermuda , in 2009 it relocated to Swords, Ireland. The relocation took place on July 1, 2009; This included the transformation of Ingersoll-Rand into a public company under Irish law .
In 2013 the security division (locks, access control systems) was spun off as Allegion .
In 2015, the German Frigoblock GmbH , based in Essen, was taken over into the conglomerate's air conditioning segment.
Products
Through its operating subsidiaries, the group of companies manufactures products from refrigeration and air conditioning technology , compressor technology and security systems for a wide variety of industries such as the automotive industry , industrial production , construction and agriculture .
The brand is primarily used for industrial goods such as compressed air solutions or lifting and tools; Many other group products are sold under other brand names (e.g. ARO for diaphragm and piston pumps , Thermo King for mobile cooling units, e.g. on refrigerated trucks , Trane and American Standard for air conditioning systems and Club Car for golf carts ). GHH RAND screw compressors for silo unloading have been manufactured in Oberhausen for over 60 years and are sold by Ingersoll Rand Trading GmbH.
