The Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawod developed the Ural-6370 in 2010. The aim was to be able to offer trucks with a larger payload than before, since the ten tons that can be loaded onto an Ural-5557 or Ural-5323 not sufficient for all purposes. The vehicle was presented at a Russian trade fair the following year. Series production also started in 2011.

The Ural-6370 uses many supplier parts from companies that are not based in Russia. The manual transmission and transfer case come from the German company ZF Friedrichshafen , the driver's cabs originally from the Iveco T series , the braking system is supplied by WABCO and Knorr-Bremse and the lighting system is from HELLA . While Raba is delivering the axles, the engine is made in Russia. The large-volume six-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of over eleven liters and 412 hp (303 kW) is built in the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod (JaMZ). JaMZ, like UralAZ, belongs to the GAZ group .

Different versions of the Ural-6370 are produced. The UralAZ, for example, builds flatbed vehicles, fire engines, dump trucks and models with heavy special structures such as snow blowers. A tractor unit is offered as Ural-63704 .

As is usual with the vehicles of the Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawod, the trucks can also be used under extreme conditions, such as can occur in Russia . It can be used at temperatures from −50 ° C to +50 ° C. The high ground clearance of 40 centimeters, the large individual tires on all axles and the all-wheel drive also ensure that the truck is off-road.
