Alfred Webinger

Alfred Webinger (born March 13, 1885 in Taiskirchen in Upper Austria ; † December 24, 1956 in Graz ) was an Austrian high school teacher and folklorist .

Life

Alfred Webinger was born in Taiskirchen in Upper Austria in 1885 . He lived in Graz and taught there at the Academic Gymnasium .

In addition, and especially after his retirement , he mainly devoted himself to ethnological and naming problems, but also published works critical of language . He also worked as a language trainer in the Alpenländischer Kulturverband Südmark , where from 1964 he headed a "working group for language maintenance". Webinger was close to the national movement and published in the NS-Gauverlag Graz.

He was in correspondence with Emil Ertl and died in Graz in 1956.
