Nový Ruskov is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 678 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Trebišov , a circle of kraj Košický heard. It is part of the traditional Zemplín landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on a deforested hill country. A small stream called Drienovec flows through it. The center of the village is at an altitude of 134 m nm and is five kilometers from Trebišov .
Neighboring communities are Sečovce in the north, Vojčice in the north-east, Trebišov in the east and south, Plechotice in the south-west and west and Veľké Ozorovce in the north-west.
history
The present municipality was created in 1964 through the merger of the places Malý Ruskov and Veľký Ruskov .
The older district is Veľký Ruskov (literally Groß-Ruskov), which was first mentioned in writing in 1214 as Ruzka . In 1468 it was owned by the Homonnay family , in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Trebišov estate and later by families such as Csáky , Péchy and Andrássy . Otherwise, the place, which was dominated by agriculture for centuries, did not acquire any major importance. In 1828 there were 87 houses and 641 inhabitants.
Malý Ruskov originated in the municipality of Veľký Ruskov and was first mentioned in writing in 1371 as Kysruzka . In 1414 it was owned by local landlords, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was part of the Trebišov estate, in the 18th and 19th centuries it was owned by the Csáky family . Similar to Veľký Ruskov, the village was rather insignificant and agricultural. In 1828 there were 39 houses and 293 inhabitants.
Until 1918/1919, the places in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the census in 2011 lived in Nový Ruskov 614 inhabitants, of which 601 Slovaks , two Russian women and Czechs and a Magyar . Eight residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
362 residents committed to the Greek Catholic Church, 193 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, six residents to the Evangelical Church AB, five residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Reformed Church, three residents to the Orthodox Church and one resident to the Brethren; one resident professed a different denomination. 18 residents had no denomination and the denomination was not determined for 20 residents.
