Trebišov (German Trebischau , Hungarian Tőketerebes - older also Terebes ) is a city in southeastern Eastern Slovakia with 24,649 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and the seat of Okres Trebišov .
geography
The city is located in the south-western part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands, mainly on the right bank of the Ondava tributary Trnávka . The city center is located at an altitude of 109 m nm and is 48 kilometers from Košice and about 450 kilometers from the capital Bratislava .
The urban area is divided into the following four parts:
- Milhostov (incorporated in 1988)
- Nový Majer
- Olšina
- Trebišov
Neighboring communities are Vojčice in the north, Horovce and Bánovce nad Ondavou in the northeast, Bracovce , Falkušovce and Kačanov in the east, Markovce in the southeast, Zemplínske Hradište in the south, Zemplínska Nová Ves in the southwest, Čeľovce and Plechotice in the west and Nový Restuskov in the north.
