Lastovce (Hungarian Lasztóc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,206 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Trebišov of, a circle kraj Košický heard. It is part of the traditional Zemplín landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the south-western part of the Eastern Slovakian lowlands near the Roňava river and the Slovak-Hungarian border . The center of the village is at an altitude of 175 m nm and is 20 kilometers from Trebišov .
Neighboring municipalities are Nižný Žipov and Stanča in the north, Zemplínska Nová Ves (district Zemplínsky Klečenov ) in the north-east, Veľaty in the east, Michaľany in the south, Kazimír in the west and Brezina and Kuzmice in the north-west.
history
Lastovce was first mentioned in writing as Loztouch in 1266 and has been owned by the nobility over the centuries, such as Szirmay and Kacinczy in the 18th century. In 1787 the village had 127 houses and 878 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 138 houses and 1008 inhabitants who were employed as farmers. Some residents took part in the East Slovak Peasant Uprising in 1831, and between 1890 and 1900 many residents emigrated.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Lastovce had 1,096 inhabitants, including 958 Slovaks , 37 Roma , three Ukrainians , two Czechs and one Magyar . 95 inhabitants did not provide any information on ethnicity .
735 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 195 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 38 residents to the Reformed Church, three residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and two residents each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Pentecostal Movement and one resident to the Orthodox Church. 23 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 93 residents was not determined.
