Parchovany (until 1948 Slovak "Parchoviany"; Hungarian PARNO ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 1,939 (December 31, 2019), which for the Okres Trebišov , a circle of kraj Košický belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the eastern Slovakian lowlands not far from the confluence of the Topľa river into the Ondava . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 115 m nm and is 11 kilometers from Sečovce and 17 kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the main town Leles and the town Božčice, which was incorporated in 1989, and the hamlet Hunkovce.
history
Parchovany was first mentioned in writing in 1272 and probably developed from a Slavic settlement. In 1828 there are 127 houses and 961 inhabitants. In the late 19th century there was the Andrássy Country Castle, which was destroyed by fire in 1901.
