The Topľa (German Töpl , Hungarian Tapoly [pronounced Tápolj ], Ruthenian Topla ) is a river in eastern Slovakia .

The catchment area of ​​the right-hand tributary to the Ondava with a length of 129.8 km is 1506 km².

The river has its source in the northern Forest Carpathians on the northeastern slopes of the Čergov Mountains under the Minčol mountain ( 1054  m nm ), south of the town of Livovská Huta ( Okres Bardejov ), flows first in a north and then in an easterly direction through Bardejov and then parallel to the Ondava to the southeast and south and flows into this at Parchovany ( Okres Trebišov ). In its course it flows through the Ondavská vrchovina and Beskydské predhorie mountain ranges and finally through the Eastern Slovak Lowlands .
