Livovská Huta (1927-1965 Slovak also "Lvovská Huta" - to 1927 "Lvovská Huta"; German huts , Hungarian Livóhuta - until 1907 Livóhutta , older only Hutta ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 43 inhabitants (December 31, 2019 ). It belongs to the Okres Bardejov , a Prešovský kraj district , and is part of the traditional Šariš landscape .

The village is located in the Čergov Mountains in the source area of ​​the Topľa . The center of the village is at an altitude of 640  m nm and 28 kilometers from Bardejov .

Neighboring municipalities are Lukov in the north, Livov in the east, Olejníkov and Hanigovce in the south, Kamenica in the southwest and Kyjov and Šarišské Jastrabie in the west.

history

Livovská Huta was founded in the 17th century and belonged to the Hertník domain ; in the 18th and 19th centuries it was owned by the Anhalt family . The village was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1773 as Hutta . The place was named after a glassworks that manufactured bottles and worked from the 18th century to 1906. From 1856 there was also a glass grinding shop . In 1828 there were 26 houses and 200 residents who were employed as lumberjacks and weavers.

The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. After the downfall of the glassworks, some of the residents went to work in Kružlovská Huta , while others worked in local saws. After the Second World War, part of the population worked in industrial plants in cities like Bardejov.
