history

Kružlov was first mentioned in writing in 1460 and was part of the Makovica estate . From the 16th century until the abolition of serfdom, the Forgách family provided the landlords. Due to a mass exodus of subjects in 1711, the village was depopulated for a few years. In today's district of Kružlovská Huta, a blast furnace and a glassworks known as Marienthal were built in the 18th century , which worked until 1878.

In 1787 the village had 41 houses and 362 inhabitants and in 1828 there were 68 houses and 513 inhabitants. In 1903 a modern glassworks was built, which employed up to 300 workers and was hired in 1950. In addition to the previously mentioned glassworks, most of the residents worked in forestry and agriculture.

Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
