Andrejova (Hungarian Endrevágása - until 1907 Andrejova ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 366 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Bardejov , a Prešovský kraj district , and is part of the traditional Šariš landscape .

geography

The community is located in the Low Beskid , more precisely in the mountains Ondavská vrchovina the stream Andrejovka (also Andrejovský Potok ) in the catchment area of Topľa . The center of the village is at an altitude of 327  m nm and is eight kilometers from Bardejov .

Neighboring communities are Zborov in the north, Šarišské Čierne in the east, Beloveža in the southeast and Bardejov in the south and west.

history

Andrejová was first mentioned in writing in 1355 as Andras Vagasa and was founded by a mayor named Andreas. The village was part of the Makovica dominion . At the end of the 15th century Andrejová was ravaged by a Polish army. In 1828 there were 84 houses and 621 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were forestry and agriculture. In the second half of the 19th century, many residents emigrated because of poverty.

The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, Andrejová had 362 residents, including 208 Slovaks , 67 Russians , 24 Roma , 10 Ukrainians and one Magyar and one Pole . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 50 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .

232 residents professed to the Greek Catholic Church, 44 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 19 residents to the Orthodox Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Reformed Church. 15 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 50 inhabitants was not determined.
