history

Tročany wooden church

The place originated near a parish church in the 12th century and was mentioned for the first time in 1270 as Trochan , seven years later as villa Sancti Trinitatis . The name is therefore related to the patronage (Holy Trinity ) of the church at that time . Initially, the village was under the rule of Sharosh Castle , then it belonged to the lower nobility, including the Kohány and Trocsankay families (since the 15th century). In 1422 22 porta were recorded according to a tax register.

In 1787 there were 38 houses and 276 inhabitants and in 1828 47 houses and 370 inhabitants, who were mainly employed in agriculture.
