history

The church was first mentioned in 1274. The present church was built in the 14th or 15th century before the Reformation . In 1670, 1755 and 1820 it was extended, renovated in 1857 and purified in 1952 . Before the redesign there was a side gallery for the organ and a pulpit in the ship. The building history of the church is typical of church buildings in the Zurich countryside.

The rectory used to be right in front of the main facade of the church. There is currently a parish hall not far from the church.

description

Exterior

The Gothic sacral building has a choir tower with a cheese bite roof . The Zurich flag and the stork's nest on the First are unusual. The facades are characterized by high pointed arch windows , some of which originate from the Gothic renovation of 1820. The pastors' epitaphs on the outside of the church are reminiscent of the former function of the walled churchyard as a community cemetery. The large late baroque sundial above the sign on the south side is striking .

inner space

The interior follows the simple scheme of a longitudinally directed hall church with a tower choir. In the choir there are two richly carved church places from 1814. The choir window is adorned with a glass painting of the crucifixion of Christ by P. Eichenberger from 1950. The tinted panes of the nave contain the neo-Gothic community coat of arms and a reference to the renovation from 1857. From 1821 the font .

In the church there are three wall slogans: A first above the carved pulpit is surrounded by a medallion ( Ps 26.8  LUT ). Above the chorus sheet is in Gothic type , a second Wandspruch ( Lk 11.28  LUT ) and to the right in a post-modern font, a third Wandspruch ( Mt 6.10  LUT ) is positioned.

The organ , a work by Orgelbau Kuhn from 1928, is located on the gallery , which was renovated in 1952. The pneumatic instrument has two manuals and a pedal with a total of 17 sounding stops . The gallery can be reached via a staircase in the anteroom of the church.
