The Čergov within the geomorphological division of Slovakia

The Čergov (outdated name Čerchov ) is a mountain range in north-eastern Slovakia . A small part is on Polish territory ( Góry Czerchowskie ).

The mountains belong to the Outer Western Carpathians and are counted within this to the Beskids , whereby according to the different nomenclature in Poland they are assigned to the West Beskids and in Slovakia to the East Beskids.

The Čergov is limited

It has an area of about 30 × 20 km. The main ridge runs from northwest to southeast. The highest peak is the Minčol ( 1157  m nm ).

The Čergov is characterized by dense deciduous forests , with beech and maple dominating. Characteristically, many ridge sections are unforested over a width of approx. 50 - 100 meters due to grazing.

The relative remoteness of the region favored the partial preservation of folk culture and architecture.
