Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1940 Hanigovce had the highest number of inhabitants in the history of the place with 1,057 inhabitants. In 1950 today's municipality of Milpoš spun off.
