Krivany (until 1948 Slovak "Kriviany"; Hungarian Krivany , German Krevian ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,242 (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Sabinov , a Prešovský kraj district and the traditional Šariš region .
geography
The village is located at the transition from the Leutschauer Berge to the Šarišské medzihorie mountains . The Torysa flows about 350 meters to the south, increasing here three streams from the village. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 426 m nm and is 16 kilometers from Sabinov .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1301 and celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2001. From 1597 to 1610 and again from 1744 the place belonged to the Hungarian noble Dessewffy family. In 1828 140 houses and 1075 inhabitants were recorded.
In 1956 the municipality of Pusté Pole was spun off.

Buildings
- Roman Catholic Church, originally in Gothic style, rebuilt in the 18th century
