Tichý Potok (until 1948 Slovak "Štelbach"; German Stellbach , Hungarian Csendespatak - until 1902 Stelbach ) is a municipality in Okres Sabinov in Slovakia with 322 (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The municipality is located on the eastern slope of the Leutschauer Berge at an altitude of 520 m nm and is 28 kilometers by road from Sabinov .
After the abolition of the Javorina military district at the beginning of 2011, the cadastral municipality Blažov was added to the municipality and the municipality area increased from almost 8.5 km² to 62.6 km².
history
The first documentary mention was made in 1427 as the property of the Berzeviczy and Tarcsay families , the name goes back to German colonists. In the 15th century, geldings settled in the village and brought the Orthodox religion with them, later mainly Ruthenian residents settled and fully assimilated the German population. The original Gothic church from the 14th century was rebuilt to its present appearance in the 17th and 19th centuries. In 1844, 1908, 1922 and 1956 the place was devastated by severe floods.
