Šarišské Dravce (until 1927 Slovak "Dravce" or "Zdravce"; Hungarian Daroc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,189 (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Sabinov , a district of the Prešovský kraj , as well as to the traditional Šariš landscape .
geography
The municipality is located at the foot of the Leutschauer Berge at the transition into the so-called Spiš-Šariš intermediate mountains ( Spišsko-šarišské-medzihorie in Slovak ). The Goduša and Kučmanovský creeks converge in the village, and the combined stream then flows into the Torysa a few kilometers downstream . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 467 m nm and is nine and a half kilometers from Lipany , 21 kilometers from Sabinov and 24 kilometers from Stará ovubovňa .
Neighboring communities are Oľšov in the north and east, Torysa in the south, Poloma in the west and Krásna Lúka in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1295 as Dorauch , as part of the dominion of Torysa. The local parish was established around the same time. The residents were employed as border guards and tended game for royal hunts. In 1427 the village had 30 porta . Until the 20th century, the Berzeviczy family owned a large part of the goods in the village.
In 1768 the village burned down, in 1787 there were 68 houses and 441 inhabitants, in 1828 72 houses and 540 inhabitants. In the 19th century, in addition to the Berzeviczy family, the Szmrecsányi family also had shares in Dravce.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 1,248 residents in Šarišské Dravce, of which 1,224 were Slovaks , two Czechs and one German and one Russian . 20 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
1206 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 13 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, two residents to the Pentecostal movement and one resident each to the Seventh-day Adventists, the Old Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church AB; one resident professed a different denomination. Three residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for 20 residents.
