Bajerovce (until 1927 Slovak "Bajerovec"; German Baierhau , Hungarian Bajorvágás ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 290 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Sabinov , a district of the Prešovský kraj , as well as to the traditional Šariš landscape .
geography
The community is located in the northeastern part of the Leutschauer Berge in the valley of the Ľubotínka brook , locally called Valalská voda , in the Poprad catchment area . There are three mineral springs in the municipality. The center of the village is located at an altitude of 665 m nm and is 17 kilometers from Lipany and 28 kilometers from Sabinov .
Neighboring municipalities are Hromoš in the north, Krásna Lúka in the east and southeast, Tichý Potok (cadastral municipality Blažov ) in the south and Šambron in the west.
history
Bajerovce was founded under German law after 1330 and was first mentioned in 1366 as Beyeruagasa . The village was part of the dominion of Torysa, from the 15th century it was partly under the dominion of the Plaveč Castle . The Palocsay , Berzeviczy and Dessewffy families owned the local estates . In 1427 13 portals were recorded according to a tax register. In 1787 the village had 68 houses and 463 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 89 houses and 681 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds, farmers and cattle keepers.
Until 1918, the place in Sharosh County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. A major fire in 1954 destroyed 80 houses.

According to the 2011 census, Bajerovce had 306 inhabitants, of whom 153 were Russians , 145 Slovaks and one Ukrainian . Seven residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
187 residents professed their support for the Greek Catholic Church, 98 residents for the Orthodox Church and 12 residents for the Roman Catholic Church. Three residents had no denomination and six residents had no denomination.
