Sambron Church

Šambron was founded sometime after 1366 under German law and appears for the first time in 1411 as Feketekwth , another medieval name is Swarcbron (1470). The village belonged to the estate of Brezovica and in 1427 a tax of 16 porta was due there. Around 1500 it was settled by Russian-speaking people, so an Orthodox church was built here, which was rededicated to the Greek Catholic Church in 1872.

In 1787 there were 60 houses and 485 inhabitants and in 1828 119 houses and 878 inhabitants who were employed in forestry and agriculture, grain and cattle trade, sheep and cattle husbandry, and as tanners and fur processors.

The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
