Lesnica (German Leschnitz , Hungarian Erdős - until 1902 Lesnicz ) is a municipality in northeastern Slovakia . It is located in the Pienines near the Dunajec River on the border with Poland , about 22 km from Stará Ľubovňa .
The place was first mentioned in writing as Leznice in 1297 .
Today the community is one of the starting points in the Pieninen National Park .
