Hajtovka (until 1927 Slovak "Hajtuvky"; Hungarian Hajtóka - until 1907 Hajtuvka ) is a municipality in northeastern Slovakia with 66 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Stará Ľubovňa , part of the Prešovský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located on the southern slope of the central part of the Ľubovnianska vrchovina mountain range on the left bank of the Poprad . The center of the village is at an altitude of 525  m nm and is 13 kilometers by road from Stará Ľubovňa .

Neighboring municipalities are Matysová in the north, Údol in the east, Plavnica in the south and Chmeľnica in the west.

history

Hajtovka was founded in the 14th century under German law and was first mentioned in writing in 1427 as Ayathuagasa . In the same year a tax of six porta was due. Together with the surrounding towns, Hajtovka belonged to the territory of the Plaveč Castle . Due to unknown circumstances, the village was depopulated towards the end of the 15th century and only repopulated after about 100 years. In 1787 the village had 27 houses and 196 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 35 houses and 291 inhabitants who were employed as fishermen and farmers.

The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 79 people lived in Hajtovka, 57 Slovaks , 13 Russians and one Moravian and one Czech . Seven residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .

50 residents professed to the Greek Catholic Church, 16 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident of another denomination. The denomination was not determined for 12 inhabitants.
