history
Historically, the area of today's municipality was first mentioned in writing in 1325, but archaeological and historical studies indicate a village founded in the 11th century. A document from 1366 also speaks of a village called Noua Plaunych , which merged with the original village in a few decades. The village belonged to the territory of the nearby Plaveč Castle . At the end of the 16th century, Plavnica was the largest village in the area, with a population of Slovak and Russian origin who were mainly engaged in agriculture, which is still the case today. In 1828 there are 167 houses and 1211 inhabitants.
