Haligovce (German Helbingsau , Hungarian Helivágása - until 1907 Helivágás - until 1892 Haligóc ) is a municipality in northeastern Slovakia with 625 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Stará Ľubovňa , part of the Prešovský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Zipser Magura in the valley of the Lesniansky potok brook not far from the border with Poland . The municipal area partially overlaps with the Pieninen National Park . The center of the village is at an altitude of 530 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Spišská Stará Ves and 26 kilometers from Stará Ľubovňa .
history
Haligovce was first mentioned in writing in 1338 as Helinguagasa . After the Hussite Wars in the 15th century, the village was uninhabited before it became a Carthusian estate in the nearby Červený Kláštor monastery in 1523 . In 1828 there are 105 houses listed.
