The Goral dialect (Polish gwara góralska , Slovak goralské nárečie ) is spoken in a few villages along the border between Slovakia and Poland. In Slovakia it is spoken in the northern areas of the Orava , Kysuce and Spiš regions , but mainly in the Orava.

The Goral is a transition dialect from Slovak to Polish .

The language borders are clearly demarcated. On the Slovak side is called (ignoring the Zips) in the following places Goral: Čierne , Hladovka , Mútne , Novoť , Oravská Lesná , Oravská Polhora , Oravské Veselé , Oščadnica , Rabča , Rabčice , Sihelné , Skalité , Svrčinovec , Sucha Hora , Zákamenné .

The speakers of Goral call themselves Goralen or Górale in Polish, which literally means mountainous.
