Donald Rope
Donald Rope (born February 2, 1929 in Winnipeg , Manitoba , † July 28, 2009 in Cambridge , Ontario ) was a Canadian ice hockey player . His daughter Patti Rope took part as a gymnast at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montréal .
Career
Donald Rope attended the University of Toronto , where he graduated as a teacher. Instead of pursuing a career as a professional ice hockey player, he worked as a teacher until he retired in 1987. During his time as a teacher, he was extremely dedicated and participated in several sports programs. He played amateur hockey himself and represented Canada with the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen at the 1956 and 1960 Winter Olympics.
International
For Canada , Rope took part in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo and 1960 in Squaw Valley . At the 1956 Winter Games, he and his team won the bronze medal, and at the 1960 Winter Games, the silver medal.
