Malý Lipník (1927–1965 Slovak also "Malyj Lipnik" - until 1927 Slovak "Lipnik"; German Kleinlaupnik , Hungarian Kishárs - until 1907 Kislipnik - older only Lipnik ) is a municipality in northeastern Slovakia with 462 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019 ), which belongs to the Okres Stará Ľubovňa , part of the Prešovský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Ľubovnianska vrchovina mountain range in the valley of the Lipník brook , on the left bank of the Poprad , right on the border with Poland . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 450 m nm and is 15 kilometers by road from Stará Ľubovňa .
Neighboring municipalities are Sulín in the north, Muszyna (district Andrzejówka, PL) in the northeast, Starina in the east, Údol in the south and Matysová in the west.
history
Malý Lipník emerged as a scattered settlement in the second half of the 16th century and was first mentioned in writing in 1600. It was part of the estate of the Plaveč Castle and was run by a mayor . In 1787 the village had 85 houses and 564 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 96 houses and 725 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds, farmers and manufacturers of linseed oil and woolen cloth. In 1848 an uprising against the county and feudal duties was struck by the military.
The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census lived in Malý Lipník 456 inhabitants, of which 386 Slovaks , 62 Russian women , two Poles and Czechs and Ukrainians . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
374 residents committed themselves to the Greek Catholic Church, 65 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and one to the Orthodox Church. Four residents had no denomination and 11 residents had no denomination.
