Ľutina (until 1927 Slovak "Lucina" or "Lucina", Hungarian Litinye ) is a municipality and a town in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 499 (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Sabinov , a district of the highest administrative unit Prešovský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located on the southern slope of the Čergov Mountains by the Ľutinka brook , a left tributary of Torysa . The one at the height of 426 m nm is 10 kilometers from Sabinov and 28 kilometers from Prešov .
history
The place Ľutina was founded by a mayor at the beginning of the 14th century and was mentioned for the first time in 1330. It belonged to the estate of the Hrádok Castle, which existed until the half of the 16th century. In 1828 Ľutina counted 67 houses and 505 inhabitants.

Attractions
The place is a place of pilgrimage for supporters of the Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia. The Basilica of the Assumption was declared the first Greek Catholic minor basilica in Slovakia.
