Somotor (Hungarian Szomotor ) is a municipality and a town in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 1,409 (as of December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Trebišov , a district of Košický kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on the left bank of the Bodrog at an altitude of 98 m nm. It is only eight kilometers as the crow flies from the Hungarian border and is 1ž kilometers west of Kráľovský Chlmec and 80 kilometers southeast of Košice (road distance) .
The municipality also includes the districts of Véč (incorporated in 1943, in Hungarian Bodrogvécs ) and Nová Vieska pri Bodrogu (incorporated in 1964, in Hungarian Kisújlak ).
