Streda nad Bodrogom (Hungarian Bodrogszerdahely or older also Szerdahely ) is a municipality in south-eastern Slovakia . It is located in the eastern Slovak lowlands at the foot of the Zemplínske vrchy on the Hungarian border, about 37 km from Trebišov and 70 km from Košice .
The community was first mentioned in writing in 1320. Until 1918 it belonged to Semplin County as part of the Kingdom of Hungary . Then the place came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia , but belonged again to Hungary from 1938 to 1945 due to the First Vienna Arbitration .
The lowest point in Slovakia on the Bodrog River with 94 m nm is located in the village. The place has a train station on the Košice – Tschop railway line .
Around 2400 inhabitants live in the village, 60% of them of Hungarian and 36.4% of Slovak descent (2001).
