Zatín (Hungarian Zétény ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 773 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Trebišov of, a circle kraj Košický heard. It is part of the traditional Zemplín landscape .

geography

The municipality is located in the southern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands , in the Medzibodrožie (Hungarian Bodrogköz ) region. The former course of the river Tice passes through the village with several oxbow lakes, while in the north the Latorica flows past with alluvial soil and alluvial forests. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 100  m nm and is 10 kilometers from Kráľovský Chlmec and 50 kilometers from Trebišov .

Neighboring communities are Oborín in the north, Boľ in the east, Vojka in the south, Svinice , Rad and Svätá Mária in the southwest and again Oborín in the west.

history

Zatín was first mentioned in writing in 1233 as Zeten (according to sources other than Izdethen ). In 1391 the village was owned by the nobility and changed hands frequently over the centuries. In 1557 two porta were recorded here. From the 17th to the 19th century the village of Gut was owned by the Klobusiczky family , who also had a country castle in the village. In 1787 the village had 64 houses and 479 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 90 houses and 698 inhabitants who were employed as fishermen and farmers (especially flax and sugar beet cultivation).

Until 1918/1919, the place in Semplin County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again part of Hungary from 1938 to 1944.

According to the 2011 census, Zatín had 823 inhabitants, including 670 Magyars , 122 Slovaks , 13 Roma , four Ukrainians , two Czechs and one German . 11 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

520 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, 90 residents to the Reformed Church, 69 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 32 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and two residents to the Evangelical Church AB 84 residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for 26 residents .
