Bačkov (Hungarian Bacskó ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 719 (December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Trebišov , a circle of kraj Košický .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Eastern Slovak Lowlands on the Bačkovský potok brook , in the shadow of the Slanské vrchy mountain range to the west , at an altitude of 200 m nm. The town center is five kilometers north of Sečovce and 31 kilometers east of Košice .
history
Bačkov was first mentioned in writing as Bachkow in 1320 , the first traces of settlement date back to the 8th and 9th centuries. The place developed as a settlement in the dominion of two castles: the older Braničev castle up to the 14th century and the newer Bačkov castle , which lasted until the end of the 17th century. In 1828 there are 91 houses and 670 inhabitants.
During the battle for the nearby Dargov Pass in November 1944, the place burned down completely.
