Olena Schablij

Olena Anatolijiwna Schablij ( Ukrainian Олена Анатоліївна Шаблій ; born December 21, 1975 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian linguist and translation scholar. She teaches as a university professor for legal German at the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of the Law Faculty of the University of Kiev .

Life

Olena Schablij studied German, English and translation studies at the National Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev. After completing her diploma in 1998, she taught translation and interpreting as well as German as a foreign language at the University of Kiev. At the same time, she conducted research in translation and interpreting studies and qualified in translation studies: doctorate in 2002, habilitation 2013. In addition, she has gained a wide range of practical experience outside of the university since 1996: initially as a freelancer and since 2013 as the head of the translation agency “Center for Intercultural Specialized Communication and Terminology alignment ”at Science Park.

Today, Olena Schablij works as a professor in the Foreign Language Department of the Law Faculty of Kiev University. She is committed to the transfer of science into practice and interdisciplinary scientific dialogue, since she has been leading specialist language training courses at the annual international summer school in Germany since 2010 and in 2015 she founded the international autumn school for legal translation, of which she is the conceptual director and organization. Since 2013 she has been looking after a. International projects of the Faculty of Law and the Center of German Law of the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev and the Science Park with a focus on interdisciplinary specialist communication.
