The NBC reconnaissance vehicle 08 is on the Radschützenpanzer Piranha IIIC of Mowag built ABC - reconnaissance vehicle of the Swiss army . The first of twelve vehicles was delivered as a test model in 2009, the final completion and delivery is expected to extend to 2015.
The vehicle is in favor of the use of associations or civil authorities for elucidation of biological or chemical substances and radioactive contaminations used. The vehicle first clarifies a confirmed or suspected contamination, determines it and delimits the correspondingly contaminated area. Finally, samples are collected for the AC Laboratory in Spiez .
With additional kits, the vehicle has ballistic protection against mine detonation in the middle under the vehicle ( STANAG 4569 Level 2b), under the wheel (Level 3a) and ballistic protection (Level 4), has armaments for self-protection, air conditioning and a power unit. The vehicle can be deployed autonomously in a contaminated area 24 hours a day with a crew of four.
