Sisu Pasi is a series of six-wheeled (6 × 6), all-wheel drive , amphibious armored transport vehicles from the Finnish vehicle manufacturer Sisu Auto . The additional name “Pasi” is derived from “Panssari Sisu”, which means “armored Sisu” in German.
description
The first vehicles were produced in 1983. Series production started in 1984. The design is similar to that of many western armored transport vehicles, such as the French VAB or the German Fuchs . The Sisu-XA series was introduced by the Finnish Army as a replacement for the Soviet BTR-60 PB armored vehicles. The versions XA-180 and XA-185 are amphibious. The armament is diverse and different depending on the version. It can for example, with various types of machine guns and machine guns ausrüstbarer tower are mounted on the vehicle hull. The Sisu Pasi has proven itself in various missions such as with the peacekeeping forces of the United Nations . The production was closed; it is being replaced by the more modern Patria AMV .
Versions
- Sisu XA-180 : original version
- Sisu XA-185 : Improved version of the XA-180, which can accommodate 2 + 18 people. This version is equipped with a more powerful engine and an improved transmission.
- Sisu XA-186 : Further improved version with additional armor. The total weight increases to 19,000 kg.
- Sisu XA-188 : Further improved version with stronger mine protection on the underside of the fuselage and additional spaced armor ( composite armor ) that is bolted. It offers protection against armor-piercing ammunition up to caliber 14.5 mm. The total weight is 23,000 kg. Driven by "Valmet 612" DWBIC turbodiesel (6 cylinders and 7.4 liter displacement) with 202 kW (275 hp) and a top speed of 95 km / h
- Sisu XA-200 : The appearance of the XA-200 series hardly differs from the older versions. The armor is stronger, but the 200 series has lost its amphibious ability. But it is possible to drive through water up to 1.5 meters deep. The improved armor protects the occupants from fire with a 14.5 x 114 mm caliber . The thicker armor became necessary after it was found that 7.62 × 54 mm R ammunition could penetrate the armor protection of the XA-180 and XA-185 series. Night vision devices and a periscope were also installed.
- Sisu XA-203 : Latest version of the XA series with further detail improvements
Several superstructures are possible on the basis of these vehicle variants, for example there is an anti-aircraft tank based on the XA-181 with the Crotale anti-aircraft missile system from Thomson CSF or a variant that is equipped with a 120 mm mortar .
