The M1117 Guardian Armored Security Vehicle (M1117 Guardian ASV for short) is an American all-wheel drive armored personnel carrier (4 × 4). The manufacturer Textron Systems classifies them as part of the Commando family. The vehicles were built by Textron from 1999.

The M1117 Guardian is essentially a further development of the M706 from the 1960s. The first vehicle was delivered to the US military police in 1999 . Since there were manufacturing problems at the beginning of the production phase, consideration was given to canceling the program. The Iraq war that started in 2003 meant that the program was continued. The US has approximately 1,700 M1117s, but a total of 3,360 vehicles have been produced and exported.
The crew consists of three men, the interior of the vehicle offers space for another three men. The vehicle is not amphibious . The armor of the M1117 offers protection against armor-piercing bullets of caliber 12.7 mm. In certain cases, the vehicle will also withstand IEDs and mines. The M1117 is also equipped with an NBC protection system.
The armament consists of a 40 mm machine grenade launcher Mk 19 , a Browning M2 heavy 12.7 mm machine gun and a 7.62 mm M60 machine gun . The armament is housed in a turret that is also used in the Amphibious Assault Vehicle .
The M1117 is powered by a Cummins diesel engine of the type 6CTA8.3, which delivers an output of 194 kW.
A further development of the M1117 is the Textron Tactical Armored Patrol Vehicle of the Canadian Armed Forces .
