Withdrawal refers to the loss of a subjective right or legal status caused by a legal act . An outdated term for denial in the legal sense is abjudication .

A withdrawal can occur in various contexts:

  • Some legal systems provide for the possibility of withdrawing citizenship .
  • Other rights cease to exist as a result of criminal convictions (in the FRG section 45 loss of official capacity, eligibility and voting rights, in Austria section 27 loss of office and other legal consequences of the conviction).
  • Awards (medals) or titles awarded to their bearer can also be revoked, depending on the statute.
  • Withdrawal of an academic degree
  • List of revoked Olympic medals
