The EE-11 Urutu is a six-wheeled and all-wheel drive (6 × 6) armored personnel carrier made in Brazil . The vehicle was developed and produced by the Brazilian armaments company Engesa in the 1970s.
history
The EE-11 Urutu was mainly produced for export - many vehicles were delivered to the Middle East in the 1970s and 1980s. During the development, care was taken to ensure that as many assemblies and vehicle components as possible match the EE-9 Cascavel . The manufacturing and maintenance costs should be kept comparatively low. The EE-11 was also used in armed conflicts in Libya, Iran and Iraq. In the battle it turned out that this armored transport was on a par with comparable Soviet models such as the BTR-60 or BTR-70 . Today the EE-11 is considered obsolete, not least because of its weak armor, which can be easily penetrated with modern armor-piercing ammunition . Because of this, production was stopped in 1987.

Armament
