It was developed by the company consortium IVECO - Fiat - Oto Melara for the Italian army , which has commissioned a total of 630 Freccias and is expected to equip three brigades in southern Italy ( Pinerolo , Aosta , Sassari ) . The Freccia in the standard design is with the tower of IFV Dardo equipped (Oto Melara Hitfist 25), but it can also be installed cannons mm to caliber 60 (Hitfist 60/70). Two launchers for Spike-ER missiles can be attached to the tower. Of the 249 vehicles initially ordered for the Italian Army, 172 were equipped with Hitfist turrets and 36 with Hitfist turrets and Spike-LR missiles.
