The BTR-4 "Bukephalos" ( Ukrainian БТР-4 "Буцефал"; бронетранспортер-4 / transcription bronetransportеr-4 , dt .: armored transporter ) is a achträdriger (8 x 8), four-wheel drive , amphibious armored from Ukrainian production. The BTR-4 was developed by the Ukrainian armaments company ChKMB without a state tender.

description

The appearance of the BTR-4 is very different from older Soviet models, such as BTR-60 or BTR-70 / 80, and is reminiscent of western transport wheeled armored vehicles , such as the German Fuchs .

The driver and the commander sit in front, the engine and gearbox are in the middle and the transport space for soldiers on board is in the rear of the vehicle. The occupants can exit the BTR-4 both via roof hatches and doors at the rear. The driver and the commander leave the armored car through the two doors on the left and right of the vehicle. The BTR-4 diesel engine ЕВРО ІІІ of Deutz equipped, which is offered by the manufacturer with 500 or 600 hp. This enables the BTR-4 to reach a speed of 110 km / h.

The vehicle can be equipped with different battle towers.

The BTR-4 was designed by the armaments manufacturer KMDB on its own initiative. The prototype was first presented in June 2006 at the Aviaswit'2006 exhibition in Ukraine.
