The ERC-90 Sagaie ( E ngin de R econnaissance à C anon de 90 mm ), named after the African javelin German Assegai , is a six-wheeled, all-wheel-drive (6 × 6), amphibious light wheeled armor of French production.
history
The vehicle was developed by Panhard in the 1970s for French rapid reaction forces. This is why great importance was attached to versatility and mobility during development, so the ERC-90 is buoyant and optionally also protected against NBC warfare agents . The vehicle can also be transported with the Transall C-160 and the Lockheed C-130 . The first copy was made in 1977.
The middle axle can be raised and lowered ( lifting axle ), which improves off-road mobility. The ERC-90 Sagaie can swim without preparation and is propelled in the water by two hydrojets and the wheels. In addition, the tank can be equipped with various turrets, the French army uses the GIAT TS 90 turret.
