The BTR-94 ( Russian БТР-94 ; бронетранспортёр-94 / Transkription bronjetransportjor-94, German: armored transporter ) is an eight-wheeled (8 × 8), all-wheel drive , amphibious transport tank made in Ukraine . The vehicle is a modification of the Soviet BTR-80 .
description
The main difference between the BTR-94 and the BTR-80 is the BAU-23x2 turret, which is equipped with a 23 mm 2A7M twin machine gun and a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, which is arranged coaxially to the main weapon. Only minimal changes were made to the vehicle hull. The 23 mm gun is the same as that used on the ZSU-23-4 “Schilka” anti - aircraft gun . In addition, the tower is equipped with a radar system that has a range of 20 kilometers against ground targets and 30 kilometers against low-flying air targets. The vehicle is also equipped with a night vision system and a laser range finder, which can also be used to mark targets for laser-guided ammunition . In addition, the armored car is equipped with a total of six smoke guns, with three throwing cups on each side of the tower.
In 1997, Jordan ordered the BTR-94 armored vehicle. The first vehicles were delivered in 2000. In 2004, Jordan donated 50 vehicles to Iraq .
