The TABC-79 (Romanian: transportorul amfibiu blindat de pentru cercetare , more recent designation: ABC-79M ) is a Romanian all-wheel drive (4 × 4) armored personnel carrier . The vehicle is fully amphibious .

description

The TABC-79 is essentially a shortened version of the Romanian TAB-77 (8 × 8) transport tank, which, apart from various modifications, is identical to the BTR-70 from Soviet production. The vehicle is equipped with an NBC protection system as standard; the armament includes a 14.5 mm machine gun and a 7.62 mm PKT type machine gun . The ammunition supply for the machine guns is 500 cartridges for the 14.5 mm caliber and 2000 cartridges for the 7.62 mm caliber.

The TABC-79 was originally designed by RATMIL, which today operates under the name ROMARM . The production has meanwhile been stopped. The Romanian Army is the only user of the vehicle with 430 units.

The standard crew of the armored car is three men and a maximum of four soldiers inside. The vehicle can be exited through two triangular hatches on the left and right of the tub, through a rear door and through a roof hatch. The TABC-79 exists in different versions.

The engine is a turbo diesel engine of the type 798.05N2, which is housed in the rear and can produce an output of 154 hp. The TABC-79 is fully amphibious with no preparation. The propulsion in the water takes place by means of a propeller at the rear of the vehicle.

The vehicle variant ML-A95 is the basis of the CA-95 - anti-aircraft tank .
