The Contes de la rue Broca is a collection of French-language children's stories by Pierre Gripari .

The stories from Rue Broca, which Pierre Gripari originally wrote in Paris for the children from his neighborhood, consist of 13 stories:

  • La sorcière de la rue Mouffetard (The witch from Rue Mouffetard)
  • Le géant aux chaussettes rouges (The giant with the red socks)
  • La paire de chaussures (The shoes in love)
  • Scoubidou, la poupée qui sait tout (Scoubidou, the doll that knew everything)
  • Histoire de Lustucru (The Story of Lustucru)
  • La fée du robinet (The fairy from the tap)
  • La sorcière du placard aux balais (The witch in the broom closet )
  • Le gentil petit diable (The good little devil)
  • Roman d'amour d'une patate (The love story of a potato)
  • La maison de l'oncle Pierre (Uncle Pierre's house)
  • Le prince Blub et la sirène (Prince Blubb and the Mermaid)
  • Je-ne-sais-qui, je-ne-sais-quoi (I don't know who, not what)
  • Le petit cochon futé (The smart pig)

Some of the stories such as "The brave devil" were published in 1992 by the Matthes & Seitz publishing house in Munich in the collection of Kleiner Idiotenführer durch die Hölle in German. This was reissued by Piper Verlag in 1996 together with the collection Divine and Other Lies Stories .

The stories were broadcast as an animated film series in 1995/1996 on the French channel France 3 and from 1998 in German on Ki.Ka , ORF 1 and SF 1 under the title The mysterious Rue Broca in a series with 26 episodes.

As a continuation of the Broca stories, Pierre Gripari published the volume Les Contes de la Folie Méricourt by Grasset-Jeunesse, 1983 , which also contains a collection of stories from a street in Paris.
