The KrAZ Hulk ( Ukrainian КрАЗ Халк ) is a protected vehicle that serves as a personnel carrier for up to twelve people. It is produced by the Ukrainian vehicle manufacturer KrAZ , who developed the vehicle.

Development history

The KrAZ Hulk was developed by KrAZ for customers in the Middle East in the mid-2010s . In the course of the intensification of the war in Ukraine , it is becoming apparent that in the medium term Ukraine will need arms production that is independent of Russia and that is capable of producing modern weapon systems and vehicles.

The KrAZ-Hulk was first presented at the Arms and Security-2016 international trade fair in Kiev in October 2016. The vehicle also took part in the military evaluation events that took place in December 2016 on training grounds of the Ukrainian armed forces . The protected wheeled vehicle is based on the 4 × 4 chassis of the truck type KrAZ-5233 and has a V-shaped vehicle pan that deflects the force of an explosion to the side in the event of an explosion under the vehicle. The Hulk has an empty weight of 14,000 kg and a permissible total weight of 16,000 kg, in addition two fuel tanks with a capacity of 165 l each are installed. The transmission has nine forward gears. A bulletproof windshield is supposed to offer the crew protection from 7.62 mm projectiles, while four windows with shooting openings were installed on each side. The Hulk has three doors each with a bulletproof glass panel. Up to eight people are accommodated in two rows of seats that are hung on the sides of the vehicle in the troop compartment. The soldiers enter or leave the vehicle through an outward-opening door at the rear. A round skylight in the passenger compartment allows access to the tower, with a NSTV - machine gun (12.7 × 108mm caliber) can be fitted. The tower of the BTR-70 can also be installed as an option .
