Aselsan ( Turkish Askerî Elektronik Sanayii A.Ş. ) is a listed Turkish armaments company majority-owned by the Turkish armed forces; It is the largest armaments manufacturer in Turkey and, according to the annual report of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), was ranked 65th in the world (excluding the People's Republic of China ) for 2013 (2008: not in the top hundred, in 2012 it was ranked 87th). According to the American Sightline Media Group , ASELSAN was already in 55th place in the world for 2018, compared to 57th in the previous year.

Organization and history

The company, which was founded in 1975 and is based in the Macunköy district of the state capital Ankara , mainly produces electronic devices for the Turkish armed forces . A significant part of the product range is made up of hardware and software modifications of devices produced in NATO countries for Turkish needs. The first export deal was concluded in 1983. On February 11, 1998, ASELSAN Baku, the first foreign subsidiary, was founded in Azerbaijan's capital Baku . The corporate form is that of an Anonim Şirket .
